Volunteer Program Update

Church volunteer groups of 8 to 35 people are needed in many locations of Appalachia for a variety of week-long service projects. Most work camps operate year round. Each work camp sets a per-person fee for materials and housing for the group. A few camps supply meals.

Groups are needed for home repair and new home building at sites in Appalachia, many year-rounf opportunities.

Much of the feedback we receive from volunteers centers around their being blessed by their experiences in serving others. They often claim they received far more than they gave. Some arrive with questions about their call to be servants and if the call can be useful. Others come holding unfounded or inaccurate stereotypes. But that swiftly changes during their work-camp experience. We believe that most return home with a better understanding of Christian service of the people of Appalachia, and the nature of poverty.
